Pastor Rey Diaz

Hello, my name is Pastor Rey Diaz and I am the current pastor at Sparta United Methodist Church. I was ordained a Deacon and then later on an Elder in the New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. I have served as the pastor of churches in New York, New Jersey, and Wisconsin.

I obtained a Bachelor Degree from College of New Rochelle, in New York. I received a Master of Divinity from New York Theological Seminary, and then a Doctorate of Ministry from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. I am a Fellow of the City Society in New York and I attended three years of training at the Acamdemy for Preachers in Nashville, Tennessee. I also graduated from the Five Year Course of Study at Garrett Evangelical Seminary, Evanston, Illinois. I also received a Diploma in Journalism.

Since 2010, I have been appointed to serve the Sparta United Methodist Church. This church has a long tradition and motivation to support the local, national, and international missions. Our members pray for and support missionaries who are serving in Africa, South America, Central America, and in Wisconsin. Our members also get involved in traveling to other countries through the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission.

I want to invite you to be a part of our ministry. As you will see if you join us, we are a dynamic congregation who work as a team to enhance the Kingdom of God here on Earth. We reach out in our community with love and compassion. We support our missionaries in this country and those who are serving in a mission overseas. We proclaim the gospel and invite everyone to be a part of the new humanity Jesus Christ is creating when you confess Him as your personal Savior, and join His body, the Church, to serve as an instrument of His love in the world.

The people in Sparta are very friendly and loving. It is very common for people who are residents of Sparta to greet you, even when they don't know you. As you drive your car down the street or as you stroll down the sidewalk, people will raise their hand and wave at you. This tradition is excellent and very contagious, since now I have learned to greet everyone I encounter on the street or when I am driving around this small city!

In light of what I have said so far, we welcome you into our ministry with the hope that you will choose this church as the place for you and your family to worship and to serve God. Together we are invited by the Word of the Lord to grow together and to encourage each other in the love and mission of the church. This church is a place where your faith will be enriched in the company of people who serve and love the Lord God Almighty.
